Hepatitis A + Hepatitis B vaccine helps protect against hepatitis A and hepatitis B infections.
Hepatitis A and hepatitis B are viral infections that affects the liver. Hepatitis A spreads through contact with the stool (poop) of an infected person while hepatitis B spread through contact with blood and body fluids of an infected person.
Hepatitis A + Hepatitis B vaccine is given by intramuscular (into the muscle) injection.
A doctor or nurse will administer this vaccine for you.
Ensure that you keep all appointments with the doctor so that you do not miss any immunisations.
If you miss an appointment or an injection, alert your doctor or nurse. A replacement appointment or injection should be given as soon as possible.
Do not use this vaccine if you ever had an allergic reaction (rashes, breathlessness, swollen eyes) to Hepatitis A + Hepatitis B vaccine, neomycin.
Alert your doctor if you have severe illness with high fever as this medicine may not be suitable for you.
Inform your doctor if you have the following conditions:
- a weak immune system
- bleeding disorders
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
If you periodically undergo dialysis, inform your doctor before immunisation.
Hepatitis A + Hepatitis B vaccine may cause any of the following side effects: fainting, fever, headache, tiredness, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, and pain, redness, swelling at the injection site.
Some side effects may need immediate medical help. Alert your doctor quickly if you experience any of the following:
- signs and symptoms of allergic reactions e.g. rashes, breathlessness, swollen eyes
- bleeding or bruising
Inform the doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any of these medicines:
- blood-thinning medicines such as e.g. warfarin
- medicines used in organ transplant or certain immune disorders e.g. ciclosporin
Always notify the doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.

Store in the refrigerator, between 2-8 °C. Do not allow to freeze. If frozen, this medicine will become ineffective and should not be used. Protect from light.

Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
